Project FAQ & Application
You must submit a project application.
Here's the link to the czar's application form.
Frequently Asked Questions
Short answer, yes. The staff on the RF committee would like to review all projects for safety concerns. The czars would like to be able to have a comprehensive list/map of where all projects will be. There was some back and forth about if really small projects still need to be submitted, and the official answer is yes, otherwise the CSOs will take it down. However, if your project is something like just tying a ribbon around a tree, it is doubtful that the CSOs will assemble in full force. But if you don't submit, you're taking a gamble on whether or not your project will be removed.
Yes! Things that aren't in the thousands of dollars are probably more likely to get funded.
No, but someone affiliated with the project does. Anyone can spend money on Renn Fayre items, but only the signator can be reimbursed.
In person signator trainings happen at the beginning of each semester. It would be highly preferable for you to go to that. But if you missed it, email money@reed.edu and they will likely let you do the training online. It involves reading a powerpoint and taking a short, easy quiz.
Some of the rules may seem esoteric or stringent. There are a lot of liability issues that make things you would think would be okay not okay. Also, the grass is precious and fragile. Don't dig any holes. If you're worried your project won't pass the initial screening, I suggest posting to the Discord to ask about how to build in safety features. The committee isn't inherently strident—we can have a trebuchet—there are just a lot of small things to consider.
Look here or post to the Discord. Apply for money even if your project is small. Especially if it is small; you'll probably get all your funding.
To the Discord! Or come to one of the Saturday BARFs in the SU.
